Espiye is one of the districts easily skipped while passing along the coast road. Yet Giresun's most accessible nature park is here. 30 minutes from the centre, half a day is comfortably enough.
Yedi Değirmenli Cave
A nature park that takes its name from the historic water mills around it. Small waterfalls, walking paths and a cave together. One of the most developed nature areas in the province.
- You can picnic in the paid gazebos
- There is a prayer room, car park and a children's playground
- There is a facility serving food
- The walk is long but the ground is largely flat
This is the most practical nature spot for families with children in Giresun. There is infrastructure, the walk is not demanding, and you can spend the whole day.
Andoz Castle
A castle ruin standing on a hill within the district. Its real value is the view: from the top Espiye and the sea are seen together.
The ruin is plain and the area undeveloped; plan it as a short break. You can also walk up from the Espiye terminal, heading north.
The coast
Espiye's coastline is quiet. In the summer months some people swim. Mind the Black Sea current, and be cautious where there is no lifeguard.
A half-day order
- Morning: Yedi Değirmenli Cave (2-3 hours)
- Midday: A meal at the facility in the park or in the district centre
- Afternoon: Andoz Castle and the coast
