Giresun is in one of the rainiest regions of Turkey. For travellers that means one thing: water is everywhere. But not all the waterfalls are equally accessible. Below I have listed them from easiest to hardest.

Kuzalan Waterfall · Dereli

The best known and most developed. Inside a nature park; there are viewing terraces, stepped paths, gazebos and food and drink facilities.

Yedi Değirmenli Waterfalls · Espiye

A nature park that takes its name from the historic water mills around it. Small waterfalls, walking paths and a cave together. Suitable for a picnic; there is a prayer room, car park and children's playground.

As it is close to Espiye, you can turn off the coast road and see it in half a day. This is the most practical waterfall to visit with families.

Çağlayan Waterfall · Şebinkarahisar

In the interior, towards Şebinkarahisar. In a different setting from the coastal waterfalls: the surroundings are drier, the vegetation sparse. You can add it to a Şebinkarahisar trip.

Yenice Waterfalls · Çamoluk

In one of the most distant corners of the province. Little known, little visited. A note for those who want to go: Çamoluk is very far from the centre, so you need to set aside a separate day for this waterfall.

When to go?

Spring (April-May) is the fullest period: the snowmelt comes down and the flow rises. In the summer months the flow drops but the walk is more comfortable. In autumn it comes alive again with the rain.

Safety

Slippery ground: The rocks and wooden platforms around the waterfalls are constantly wet and mossy. Do not go in sandals or slippery-soled shoes. Do not climb over the railings for a photo; there are accidents every year for this reason.

On the map

On the map the water stops carry their fees and durations; you can pick the easiest one near you.
