Bulancak is the largest district closest to central Giresun: 15 minutes away. With its population and activity, it is almost a continuation of the centre. It does not require a day of its own, but there are a few good spots to stop at on the way.
Sarayburnu Mosque
On Atatürk Avenue, a large mosque notable for both its exterior and its interior decoration. It is said to be aligned with the Kaaba. One of the region's most admired mosques; there is parking at the roadside.
The coast
Bulancak's coastline is long and developed. There are walking paths, tea gardens and seating areas. A quieter alternative to the shore in the centre for an evening stroll.
The highland road
Bulancak is on the road up to Kulakkaya Highland. If you are heading up, it makes sense to stop here for breakfast or to finish your shopping: there is no shop or petrol station up top.
The last chance for fuel and shopping before you go up to the highland. Those who skip it struggle up there.
Food and drink
Along the shore there are places serving fish and grills. They can be better value than the centre. Convenient for a lunch with a Black Sea view.

How to plan?
Rather than putting Bulancak on a day of its own, use it in one of two ways:
- The start of a highland day: Breakfast and shopping in the morning, then Kulakkaya.
- An evening escape: If you are staying in the centre, the shore and a meal in the late afternoon.
On the map
On the map Bulancak sits at the start of the Kulakkaya road; combine it with the highland.
